subways spawn stories

There’s one thing I’m really sorry I missed the chance to do while in Chicago, and that’s ride the El.

 

I’m a huge fan of city-wide public transport in general, and of subways in particular.  I like them for their efficiency and their convenience, but I like them most because they cram a bunch of very different people together in a tight little space. 

 

It’s instant story.  Eavesdrop in a crowded subway car for twenty minutes and you’ve got writing ideas to last for the week.

Anybody have any good lines to share from listening in?
