seedbank
The Seedbank is a rotating collection of ideas, images, and writing exercises intended to spur your imagination and spark new directions in your writing practice. Some, but not all, are related to place; some are born here on the where of it, while others are visiting from the work of others. Feel free to contribute your own favorite prompts (email me, summerwood@thewhereofit.com, and please credit their author). If something you see here inspires work that you’d like to share, send that, too — I’ll post it on a Readers Respond page.
WEEK OF MARCH 16
* Write the moment of embarrassment. Focus on the physical.
* Start with WARM WATER and go from there.
* Remember a time in your childhood or adolescence when you did something bad; something you knew you weren’t supposed to do. Remember the place where you did this. Now describe that place in great sensual detail. Resist revealing the action – that bad thing that you did – for as long as you possibly can.
